What Janus Is (and Is Not)
Janus is a self-directed tooling protocol for splitting collateral into two tranches (Alpha and Omega) with different risk profiles. It is not a bank, a savings account, or a managed investment product.
Fee distributions are performance-dependent and conditional on protocol epoch outcomes. There is no guarantee of any return, yield, or appreciation. Past distributions are not indicative of future results.
Smart Contract Risk
All protocol functionality is governed by smart contracts deployed on-chain. These contracts may contain undiscovered bugs, vulnerabilities, or logic errors that could result in partial or total loss of funds. The protocol has undergone internal red-team audits but has not been formally audited by an external security firm.
Market & Liquidity Risk
Alpha and Omega token prices are determined by protocol mechanics and market activity. There is no guarantee that tokens can be redeemed at their minted value. Low liquidity, oracle failures, or extreme market conditions may prevent normal operation. Vault health conditions may restrict redemptions.
Governance & Parameter Risk
Protocol parameters (epoch duration, fee splits, coverage thresholds, oracle staleness limits) may be changed by protocol governance or admin actions. These changes can materially affect token behavior, fee distributions, and outcome conditions. Parameter changes take effect without advance notice during the MVP phase.
Performance-Dependent Risk
Fee distributions only occur during YES-outcome epochs. If the protocol does not maintain health criteria (coverage ratio, TWAP above floor, oracle liveness), no fees are distributed. There is no minimum return, no fixed rate, and no guaranteed distribution. Staking during an epoch that ends as NO or VOID results in zero protocol fee distribution for that period.
